3D Artist / Sculptor

My goals, as an artist, are to bring wonder, inspire joy, encourage personal transformation, while exploring interaction, facilitating dialogue, enabling participation and building community through public art.

The Council of Animals (What to do about the humans?)

2019-2023, 40’ diameter x 10’ tall, Steel, Stainless Steel, and Aluminum

The Council of Animals (What to do about the humans) began with a grant from Burning Man in 2020, and then went on to Washington DC for the summer of 2023, in collaboration with PETA.  The piece currently resides in Tonasket, Washington, while awaiting future tour dates.

The animals are built from steel, stainless steel, and aluminum, using CNC and hand-worked techniques.

The Council of Animals is a piece to encourage dialogue amongst the planetary family. Three large metal animals – elephant, polar bear, and rhino, with his friend, the chicken – make up the judges.  Coyote is here too, as intermediary. There are benches for the humans. If the animals could speak our language, what would they have to say to us?

Animal sculptures are my favorite – capturing the spirit of the animal in simple geometry, taking my time to make every shape matter, and then fusing them into being with a welder and a grinder, letting my hands shape the details.

Part of the Council of Animals, what are you doing to my babies?!  Miss Chicken was shaped using forging techniques, and has so much attitude!
